I normally don’t do this, but I am too excited not to share. I drew this freehand with sharpee on Michelle’s back. I had to move the bottom of the tree trunk to better fit her back and with a little hand sanitizer I was able to take off the original sketch and redraw it. Four and a half hours later, and this the rough outline for what’s to come.

Erik, Before and After

I just finished the outline of Erik’s new traditional eagle chest piece tattoo. Also today, I started reworking Jenny’s side piece. It’s fairly common these days that I am finishing or reworking tattoos on my friends when the original artists can’t be found. Is there something about tattoo artists and disappearing? It has been a long day, to end a long week. I have a life filled with many blessings.

Galen is getting one of the best tattoos ever. A three quaters sleeve of Leonardo DaVinci sketches. I couldn’t be more excited. This is the first session, 9 hours, in two days.

New Studio: Update

I’m busy remodeling my new studio. I hope to have a new roof and floors by the end of the week. Things are slowly coming together. I’ve got about two weeks of appointments to make up as soon as I can. I’ve not forgotten about you guys, I’m excited for all the new art. I have never done anything like this before and I’m figuring it out as I go. From what I’m told with the help that I’m getting, this is going to be my dream studio.

In Progress: New Orleans King Fish Tattoo

I’m really excited about this one, so I decided to post an “In Progress” photo of it. Sessions 1 and 2 on Josh, founder of LocalGod clothing. Josh is an awesome guy and we came up with this piece as the first panel of his sleeve. This is on the top of his arm. There will probably be 2 more 5 hours sessions on this tattoo before it is done.

Alice in Chains – Facelift

Deb wanted to start a sleeve of her favorite album art. We started by laying out the images she wanted to include to a digital mock-up of an arm to establish placement and size. I suggested that we start with one piece so that we could focus on completing the piece instead of doing an entire arm of outlines and working to fill it all in over the next few months.

Deb and I were pretty worn out at this point and we had to call it a day. I still plan on doing about a few more hours on this tattoo before I feel like it is finished. In the end, I am happy that Deb went home with a mostly-finished tattoo that she can be proud of until I am back in Phoenix to finish it.
